I efteråret 2005 vedtog et snævert flertal i Folketinget at privatisere hovedparten af Danmarks demersale fiskearter i foreløbig syv år ved at indføre fartøjskvoteandele, FKA.

Det betyder, at kvoterne fra og med januar 2007 kan sælges sammen med den enkelte båd. Hensigten er, at de, der vil ud af erhvervet, kan sælge deres FKA, mens de, der vil satse på at blive i erhvervet, kan sikre sig fangstmuligheder ved at købe FKA.

This document is dedicated to the European Parliament, the media in Europe and the European countries who now have one year to discuss the European Commission’s proposal to the CFP which is: a Common Fisheries Politics based upon a privatisation of the fishing rights in a system of Individual Transferable Quotas, ITQ.

The paper is written with the aim to initiate and fuel a further public debate about how it is possible to improve Coasts of the Future in Europe based upon sustainable life-modes and communities.
